Facial degenerative diseases refer to conditions in which the dermis or subcutaneous fat in the face atrophies, leading to localized facial depressions and deformities. These are often caused by conditions such as Parry-Romberg syndrome (progressive hemifacial atrophy) or connective tissue diseases.
The conventional treatment for such diseases has been autologous fat transplantation. However, the transplanted fat often struggles to engraft stably, making it difficult to maintain long-lasting therapeutic results.
Fat tissue collected from the patient is first transplanted, followed by an injection of stem cells. The stem cells secrete angiogenic factors that promote the formation of new blood vessels, thereby improving the survival rate of the transplanted fat tissue and enhancing the therapeutic effect.
